David,

I agree completely on an academic level, but the reality of the situation is
that between the two of them, IE and Netscape control 90+% of the browser
market and the general impression will be that it is Java that is not
working. It's great to have this "portable" language, but if the JVMs are
not up to snuff it's not all that portable.

The problem may not be Java, but the browser's support for Java. My
understanding is that Internet Explorer doesn't support the latest Java
implementation and Netscape does.

Java is "write once, TEST everywhere"

Yup, Netscape solved the problem. So much for "Java: Write once, run
anywhere!"

I found that the java program will not work with IE4. (password not
correct
error all the time)
If I use Netscape 4.x it works all the time.

Has anyone used the Internet ordering process for PTFs? I'm
trying to order
a PTF and the little Java app that IBM uses to connect to my
AS/400 is not
recognizing my password. I know the app is getting to the
400 because it
disables my profile after 3 attempts, but everytime it
thinks my password is
                incorrect. Any ideas?

                -Walden
