We use ACOM to print checks, but use a HP4 with a micr toner.  Have you
called them?  When we first set it up, we had problems and I found them very
helpful.  The problems were solved when we installed CA instead of the
emulation software we had been using.  Because you are using their printer,
they should own the problem.
