TN5250E Encypted Substitute Password -- MIDRANGE-L

     Does anyone know the version and PTF level of OS/400 for the encrypted 
     substitute password function to operate properly?  This is a feature 
     of TN5250E.
     
     The clear text substitute password works and is documented in V4R3 for 
     telnet clients, while the encrypted substitute password is documented 
     for APPC clients.
     
     Is anyone using this feature currently?
