If USER is not a field name, you should enclose in apostrophe.

We have files which the application secures  based on the USERID. I am
trying to define  a logical  file  in DDS incorporating the USERs name 
into
the CMP selection. i.e

A         R    RECORD1
A         R    FUSER
A         S    CMP(FUSER  EQ  USER)

Unfortunately it treats USER as a field and generates an error.  Does
anyone know of a way this can be accomplished. Thankyou in advance. All
suggestions are welcomed.
