RE: AS/400 Gasping For Air ??

If the day ever comes that an AS/400 becomes a dinosaur... and I am
forced to work on PC-based application solutions... Oh God... I don't
even WANT to think about that... I like to have a life... I like to
sleep at night.

P.S.  As a fellow JDEdwards programmer I can tell you that what he says
is correct about $$$$$$ and demand for your skills.

You know it took JD Edwards a lot longer to write the software than 9
months.
IMHO, 9 months is a very optimistic time frame, and I would say that if
you are
an RPG programmer with JD Edwards programming experience, I would leave
NOW.  The
market is great for your skills, and unless they plan on training you,
you will
be an AS/400 "guru" in a world of Unix "geeks", and you will not be
happy.  Once
you have been on an AS/400, its very difficult to switch to Unix.
