In my opinion, query seems to be one of the most under-utilized tools of RPG programmers. Why spend hours hard-coding a program to create a report when you can create the same report in 15 - 20 minutes using query? And if the user decides that this field needs to go here and could you add this field, etc, etc. it's no problem. If he will be "fighting with this query forever" it is only because he needs a better understanding of relational databases, not because of any deficiency on the part the Query application. I'm not saying query can do everything, but I've seen lot's of code written to do something I could have done with query in a fraction of the time. All it takes is a good understanding of relational databases.
