Synapse WinAPPC requires use of a router (typically Netsoft) when
connecting via autosync to an SDLC comm line/synchronous modem (typically
IBM 7855 or UDS V.3400) on the AS400.

Period.

Synapse did not write the Netsoft Router but they did write many of the
16bit clients that use APPC routers like Netsoft Elite, Attachmate Rally!,
DCA Irma/400, Micro Integration 5250 for APPC, Connectronnix Wintronnix,
and Novell 5250 (a Rally! knockoff) among others.

They recently released a TCP/IP only client called NetWolf that does
display, printer, and sql based file transfer over TCP/IP.  WinAPPC has
similar features as well as having APPC style connections.  This is used in
remote situations where WAN's or RAS facilities exist.

SNA (and APPC) is going to the same landfill as micro channel, OS/2, token
ring, and twinax.

Chuck is talking about using WinAPPC as a remote client to the Synapse
RemoteAPPC server where no router is required at the client.

This should clarify what Synapse has for remotes.
