>>It is entirely possible to roll back the dates with encapsulation and print/ display the right dates. First of all as an employee of a Y2K tool vendor I should note that I have at least a perceived bias here. While it is possible I still think it's an insane approach. If you know enough about where your dates are to encapsulate them, you know enough to be able to use a tool to fix it properly. The difference in time taken has to be relatively trivial. If the dates on the DB reflect a different value to reality, then you're going to have fun with end-user queries etc. While you may not have end-user access today, you sure will tomorrow! One of the things that gave me a chuckle was that one of the tools that use this technique highlights the fact that all of it's code changes can be easily removed if you ever want to do it right in the future ! I just don't understand why people will work so hard and spend so much money on stopgap solutions. And don't get me started on all the folks who insist on doing it by hand ....... +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
