The first step is to connect your AS400 to your LAN via Ethernet. Put an
Ethernet card in your AS400. Then put an Access Builder on the LAN (PPP to
ethernet router). These cost $500-$2000 depending on the number of lines.
Dial into the access builder to get to the AS400. If it is night support,
go through the PBX and save on external lines. Use Client access on the
PC. This will do for local employees. For remote employees, contact your
ISP to connect your ethernet LAN to the internet. We use an ISDN line,
costing $199.99/month which includes the $70 SWB telephone line. Now, at
night, your employees call the access builder, can signon to your LAN, and
then log on to the internet or the as400. During the day, employees can
access the Internet or the AS400.
