well, we use them all the time.  the risk of filling up the system to us is less
that monitering whether a file will fill up.

and we've had the system (our old d20) fill up lots of times, but it's usually
during a restore for a media conversion, and we're not paying attention.  i 
don't
think it's ever been because of a runaway file.  we haven't run across a time
where ipl won't work.  but it takes forever, and is a pain.
