This worm is starting to turn, but it's been a long time coming.     I think 
that
Ravi has hit the nail on the head here.   People won't learn a new programming
language until there is a compelling reason to.   Not until their Vendor starts
to use RPGIV, will most spend the effort to learn it.   Sad but true.   How many
Vendor packages are written in RPGIV?

As for JAVA, the same rules apply.   The majority of programmers across the 
world
will learn it after they are compelled to maintain JAVA code, not before.
