A choice program is a program (an exit program ?) that can be called by a
command to provide a list of choices rather than hardcoding the list into
the command.

I want to use a table to provide some choices on a few homegrown commands
that manage journal receivers and journal entries and some other bits and
pieces.

I hope this explains it correctly !

Thanks to everyone else who responded - mostly it confirmed my worst fears
that the donkey work I'd imagined I'd have to do was how I'd have to tackle
it and there wasn't some simple way I was missing.
