  • Subject: Question for any IBM comms techies watching.

Maybe someone from the OS/400 comms group might be able to help. We have
a customer on OS/400 V4R3 that's using an AS/400 as an async
communications server to host a BBS for customers to drop off and pick
up files. They're running somewhere close to a hundred comms lines on a
24/7 basis.

Every now and then one of the comms jobs will freeze putting that
resource out of use until an operator resets it. The job that freezes is
trying to perform an output on the line and gets stuck at instruction
0278 in program QYFPUT which in turn was called by QICPUT (instruction
056E). Any clues as to what may cause this and how do we resolve it?

Details: The line descriptions used are NON SWITCHED async attached to
US robotics modems. DSR remains high throughout, flow control is
hardware...(more info available).
