  • Subject: CUMs and Group PTFs (was rel 3 R7 and rel 4 R3 different)

Hi Bob!

MANY THANKS for your posting clarifying that CUM does not include GROUP.
We were very astonished. And we wonder how you got this info...

        > Check to see if there is a later one than
        > SF99103.
Not so easy.
IBM has invented a new confusion strategy.
CUMs have an id (e.g. C 8 279 430). So everyone knows what your speaking
about.
Group PTFs do not. The 'name' of the DB group PTF for DB2/400 under V4R3
is SF99103. No version. No Id.

To check the 'currentness' of this DB group PTF you can consult
http://www.as400service.ibm.com/as4sde/slkbase.nsf/c439b08a6a6b124286256
5d8007695bf/e1bfadb19955c444862565c2007ceabe?OpenDocument
which lists all the versions and leads you to the lists of PTFs
contained.
The document says "To have the latest level of DB2/400, request the
appropriate Group PTF."
You had to keep in mind which version you got the last time and had to
order
the new version at the correct time...

Recently IBM has introduced 'marker PTFs' in the document,
as an answer to customer complaints, I think...

We do not have a version of a group PTF containg a marker yet.
Any experiences with it?
