Howard, you asked >Has anyone used distribution lists? > Yes, I have. What are you trying to do ? All you need to do is create a uniquely named list and add in directory entries under it. It is worth spending some time to have a naming strategy that fits your directory naming strategy so that lists are able to be located easily and you don't end up with lots of duplicates. >How do I tie spool file output to a distribution list or is this a >different kind of distribution list? > A bit more information on what you are trying to do would help me answer your question, but as a guess, I figure you want to distribute report(s) to multiple users maintained in a distribution list, or perhaps multiple outqueues. Rather than doing a SNDNETSPLF or putting a 1 in the WRKOUTQ display you can use the distribution list to do the lot at once. If you put a 1 next to a spool file entry in a WRKOUTQ display be aware that the TOUSER parameter (I hope thats it, I'm working from memory) needs TWO brackets around it because its a list element. So you would put TOUSER((USER SYSTEM)) on the parameter line. To use distribution lists to route output to your printers/outqueues, one approach you can take is to create a User profile for each of your printers, with a default outqueue of the outqueue the printer normally opeates in. Enrol the "printer users" in your directory and then you can then build a distribution list to send the spool file to multiple printers. This would work well if you had some kind of central despatching outqueue with a data queue attached to it that processed the spool files and did a SNDNETSPLF for each of the files based on some kind of selection mechanism that your dtermeined. Hope this helps.
