Our company, (and others,) publishes a commercial program that
allow you to use the sockets interface with NO programming.
Our interface is through one incoming data queue and one
outgoing data queue. You would configure the software to
run in *TCP mode in the *CLIENT role and connect to the
telnet port (usually 23) on the unix machine. You would
QRCVDTAQ the lines of text from the incoming queue, as respond
with username and password as needed. Then, simply sending
the text you want to populate the telnet session with, you
can navigate to the screen you want and plug in whatever
data you desire. You would not have to know ANYTHING about
telnet or sockets or anything, just what the screens look
like coming from the unix box.

Frankly, this is simple, once the sockets link is in place.
Your program sends what you would key in directly to the
telnet session yourself.
