Fritz,

I would increase all of the timeout values on the line and controller
descriptions. On a LAN connection the AS/400 assumes very small timeout
values. But the WAN may be introducing delays depending on the type of
WAN service you are using.

If this does not help you can get some detailed diagnostic information
in the QHST log. Use DSPLOG and look for the "Recovery in progress"
message that comes just after the line or controller failure message.
View the second level help and note the technical description. There is
often a note to view another message for more detail. Use DSPMSGD to
view that message. It's a bit of a twisted path but you can get some
pretty detailed information on the cause of the problem.
