RE: Re: Newbie Questions- we're all newbies. Thanks Dean; You said it. While on the subject of Newbies, and education of the basics and stuff. <Advertisement here> I teach in house classes on a lot of these subjects. Like the Jobq/job activation and runtime/outq boring stuff. Along with other things like programing/DB/SQL/etc. I can tailor classes too. <end advertisement > John Carr CDP - Have Classes, will travel. How many of us are experts in every > subject that comes across this forum? Each of us would be asking > newbie questions outside our sphere of expertise. Exactly. Shortly after I started on the /400 (nine years ago) and realized its' potential, I stated that a person could spend a lifetime studying this machine and not know everything there was to know about it. I doubt that Frank Soltis himself could, it's just too flexible. Today, the box supports _TWICE_ what it did back then (JAVA, TCP/IP, IFS, Domino, POP3, etc.), and *I* still don't know all the stuff that was originally supported. Not to mention that the configuration options bear no resemblance to the old models, even up to the "F" series. You just can't know it all, as my earlier CPYF question idicates (AND I _THINK_ THAT WE'VE HAD ENOUGH RESPONSES TO THAT QUESTION, BTW). How many other AS/400 "Easter Eggs" are there out there? > If the question is basic and you want to help, point to manual numbers, > or web sites(Pubs, redbooks, etc) or education options for the person.
