I think 9600 is the max that they'll handle. We took our 5208 out of service over a year ago (just turned it off and stole the modems). We still use 3i protocol converters and 394e controllers with serial cards from PerleSystems. Both the 5208 and the Perle 3i hook onto a twinax line. The 394e runs as controllers on a comm line. We used the 5208 with the proprietary program (Dial/3X??) that handled terminal emulation and printer download session. The Perle devices use an equivalent program, PerleTalk (available in DOS or Windoze versions). As someone has said, they were in the dumpster for a good reason! Although I agree with you.
