Date: Wed, 7 Oct 1998 11:40:08 -0400 (EDT) From: Fred Schuff For those trying to automate testing using scripts, remember that capturing a script is only 1/2 of the process. Most of your testing time will be consumed by replaying the script over and over and verifying the results. Consider tools which will capture data (input and output) along with your scripting tool. That way, you avoid the imense problems of synchronized data extraction, data storage, data reloading and the verification of results. There are Products [ I will answer that in private mail for those interested] that will capture input and output and allow aging captured data (usually less than 10% of your total data volume) while comparing the results, reports and all data files, as the testing process occurs (no post processing data extraction and compare). And replaying a single process is independent of any predecessor processing - another huge savings in the testing processs. Many variations and usbsets are out there as well - and costs differ with function. BUY what you need Testing is the big chunk of time and money and being sure the results are accurate and complete is critical.
