Error trapping is an excellent argument for UC.
You could also do a 'pre-open' in the CL using
opndbf for database files to trap open errors.  I
don't know if this was mentioned but accessing
different members of a multi-membered file is
another reason because you need to do an override
to the member when the file is closed.   Of course
this is just another arument for the anti-member
thread.  ;)
