We've used journaling on files containing 2 million+ records without noticeable performance loss... but to answer your question, journaling is automatic if you use CREATE COLLECTION to create your summary library. If you use CRTLIB and put your tables in that library you won't have the automatic journaling anymore. SQL works perfectly fine on native (CRTPF/CRTLF) DB2 files. hth, Buck Calabro Commsoft, Albany, NY mailto:mcalabro@commsoft.net +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
