I've wondered about the lag time on this procedure. How much time is lost by the reading of the ICF file, any zone conversions needed, and the changing of system value QTIME. Of course a lapse of 10 or 15 seconds would not be that critical for most AS/400 applications. The 400's keep fairly good time, unlike our UPS which keeps rotten time. Almost all of them are in Indiana where we don't give a rip about daylight savings time. If someone has a program that does dial out, retrieve the time and changes QTIME I might be interested. How can we address the Y2K issue when most systems don't even grasp the Daylight savings time issue? For example when I call somewhere and I get a recording that their hours are such and such Eastern Standard Time when they mean Eastern Daylight Time or the acceptable generic Eastern Time, it upsets me. Pacific Standard Time is ALWAYS 3 hours different from here. But Pacific time may be 2 or 3 hours different depending on what time of the year it is. SNIP>Phil, We do not dial out to get the time. Does anyone Dial out to get the time synchronized on their AS400 and if so, where?
