A client is using GUI/400 with both JDE and custom programs. I develop
interactive applications, then Gui-Boy (A young PC Whiz) is tasked with creating
the GUI screens. So far, I have not been overly impressed. It often takes three
or four iterations to get the screens right. I have seen numerous examples of
data being truncated, Text fields that are conditioned are not handled properly,
they always display.

Now, Is this a problem with GUI, or the person generating the screens? I
honestly
don't know. I cannot afford the time/expense to attend an official Seagull
class,
but am reading the manual, to try to answer that question. Sometimes the manual
is not very clear (What's new?), and the grammar is not always what I am
accustomed to. (Sort of a slight european accent so to speak).

On the plus side, I believe operations navigator is written in GUI/400 and it is
OK. JD Edwards seems to have implemented it fairly well. It seems to have a LOT
of power, but I have not gotten to the point where I am developing panels. I am
hoping that the problems I see are caused by the lack of experience with the
product, and not the product itself.
