Jim,

For starters, make sure you have a (well secured) library higher than QSYS in 
the
system portion of the library list.  This ensures that your command gets called
rather than the IBM one.

Then just build a CL program and a command that duplicates the CRTDDMF inputs
(check out the excellent RTVCMD command on the NEWS/400 website), and outputs,
and put you're new command in higher in the library list than the original
CRTDDMF.
