The only thing worse than a PC losing your work was the -original- SEU back
on the S/38--  you edited the one and only copy of the source; no undo, no
SAVE(YES/NO).

I think there is a difference in philosophy between PC editors and the
AS/400 SEU/PDM editors:  PC editors originally read the entire document
into memory, massaged it, then saved it.  If you worked quickly, and saved
often enough, it was safe enough.  Since the origin, PCs have added the
AutoSave feature, which is a time-based feature.

The AS/400 editors are based on the idea that the machine -will not- lose
any of your work.  What a concept!  Press ENTER, or ROLLUP/DOWN [don't get
me started on ROLL vs PAGE!  (:   ], and the AS/400 saves every keystroke.

And if your terminal or workstation crashes, your work is there when you
return.  PCs are not as kind!
