My personal opinion of certification is simple: If there is a certification test for an area, it's time to move on to a new area. If you read the posts concerning certification, you'll notice a *lot* of positioning for one area of interest versus another. A committee without a room to meet. Do you expect such a group to be able to distinguish who are your best candidates to do the work at hand. I have a similar problem with hiring programmers with X years of experience. Is it X years of pushing the envelope, or 1 year of experience repeated X times? I prefer the guy who pushes the envelope, myself, and no test is going to give me that answer.
