Yeah, but it has to also simultaneously calculate the Schroedinger wave equation and Mandelbrot Polynomial ! :-) Do you do much design work on the space shuttle ? (Not the O-rings I hope). Which version of your package controls the robots that perform open heart surgery ? =:-o Sure you can control robots, conveyor systems, weigh scales, lab equipment, etc. etc. (One of our customers uses it a carousel picking system in their warehouse). It was possible to do this with a true blue solution before IBM withdrew the 5159 Programmable Controller (anyone remember the demos at COMMON where they had it running a model train set ?). Sounds like you have a great solution. Still, you must admit, that's the AS/400 isn't the first system you would think of for that type of application. IT'S THE MARKETING ! PS - Maybe you can tell me offline if your Credit Card software is approved by the Canadian Banking Association. PPS - If you're going to do that with NT & Unix be careful what you might catch ! ;-) Neil Palmer AS/400~~~~~ NxTrend Technology - Canada ____________ ___ ~ Thornhill, Ontario, Canada |OOOOOOOOOO| ________ o|__||= Phone: (905) 731-9000 x238 |__________|_|______|_|______) Cell.: (416) 565-1682 x238 oo oo oo oo OOOo=o\ Fax: (905) 731-9202 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ mailto:NPalmer@NxTrend.com AS/400 The Ultimate Business Server http://www.NxTrend.com > -----Original Message----- > From: Ira Chandler [SMTP:ira@roiconnect.com] > Sent: Monday, August 31, 1998 3:50 PM > To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com > Subject: RE: MIDRANGE-L Digest V2 #510 > > > ... > > If you want to calculate the "Schroedinger wave equation and > > Mandelbrot Polynomial while simultaneously controlling a robot > > that is performing open heart surgery, or design an > enhancement > > to the space shuttle", then by all means use Unix.
