  • Subject: Importing Hyperlinks from Browser

The WIndows 95/98 environment is biased towards local user content
rather than central server content. When I move from one PC to another
I cannot take my local content with me unless I save it centrally and
remember to restore it each time I change pc's. This is too much like
hard work and I am bound to forget to save it every time I make a simple
change to the local data, nor do I propose to automate the process. As
a result, I keep most of my data in my AS/400 database, with minimal
data stored on my PC (just like those good old 5250 days!).

One thing I have been keeping on my PC is Internet bookmarks, but, in
addition to the problem of changing PC that I mentioned above, I am
finding that I am getting too many bookmarks, and, however many folders
I create for them, I do not seem to be able to control them or remember
where I put them. If I put them in my Neural Database, I can then
relate them to the relevant subjects, companies, etc., in a controlled
way and, and, using a browser, can access any link through multiple
paths, even though each individual URL is only stored once. They also
become available to multiple users. This works well and integrates the
Web data to all other data.

The problem is importing the URL's. If I try to drag and drop them into
an input capable box of an AS/400 page from my database in the browser
(NS Navigator 4.5), it won't let me, even though this is a facility of
Navigator. I can cut and paste the URL into the same input box, but
then I don't get the name of the page unless I do a second cut and
paste.

Is this a Navigator problem? If so, does anyone know of a browser that
would allow it?

Does anyone have any other bright ideas for getting URL's into an
AS/400?
