hi,

it sounds like a cabling problem. i got the same thing the first time i tried
to set one
up. we were using a remote access server, and i tried to run the cable from
the ethernet
card directly to the ras. that wouldn't work!

but when i put the cable in the hub, varied on ok.

for your cabling, if you have an older system (than the e series) you will need
a
transciver (sp?) if you have an e series, you should have a 10base t
connection cable in
your box of goodies from ibm. you plug your cable to the hub into that.

if that isn't it, you may have a problem with your cable. could it be a
crossover cable
(you don't want it to be). or you may have a problem with the hub.

one last thing - do you have an integrated pc server? if so, you need to
configure it
first!
