Instead set up a separate subsystem to run these jobs in. You can then make that subsystem the lowests priority on the system and restrict the amount of memory it can use so that the jobs do not impact your daily operations. I am not an expert on work management but I believe you can limit the impact without too much trouble. If you suspend the job it may retain locks on resources which may affect other processing.
