I don't have any hard number by FTP seems quite a bit faster to me.  Also,
the same hold true for interactive stuff.  The speed on dial up TCP/IP to
our AS400 is just about as good as the local LAN connect, Dial up doing SNA
over ASYNC over the same speed link was sluggish.  I'll take TCP/IP anytime.
