May I assume that you are using Windows 95 or NT since you are using V3R1M3 of Client Access? If so then 95 and NT come with simple TCP/IP functions. Open a DOS window and try the following commands: ping ftp You don't need Client Access to use FTP. Client Access can use TCP/IP to connect instead of SNA. With the advent of named sessions available I don't see a whole lot of reason to use SNA for PC communications. As far as 400 to 400 I believe that if IBM duplicated all of the Object Connect commands (SAVRST...), along with SND... commands, for TCP then we would be better off. Yes, us clever people can figure out how to do most of this ourselves. But, IBM supported commands are nice. tgrider@arkansas.net on 08/14/98 12:35:49 PM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com@Internet To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com@Internet cc: Subject: How to FTP I see people on the list talk about using FTP to upload binary files from their pc to the AS400. What FTP Client are you using to do this. I am connected via Client Access V3R1M3 over a Token Ring Network. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
