Like you, I have never had any problems with BEST UPS products.
Doesn't the Unity 1 come with a maintenance bypass switch, that allows
you to just feed raw power straight through the UPS to the output
receptacles,  or was it such a total failure that even that didn't work
?

Please keep us informed as to the cause and resolution of your problem.
