We save them until we get a newer tape; the new ones include everything on
the older ones.  The instructions for a PTF usually include a paragraph
that says something like, "If you have any of these PTFs, don't bother
installing them etc. etc."

When IBM used to issue tapes, we just turned them over to operations and
said, "Scratch these."

Nowadays, its all on CD.  Lessee... Coasters... mini frisbees...  clocks...  (:
