After our Transition to V4R2 we switched two workstations running Client Access V3R1M3 from NetSoft Router (DLC protocol) to IP. Everything seemed to work fine. An our later later I got a call from one of the IP users telling me that from time to time his AS/400 screen went black and he had to restart the session incl. a new signon. He also complained about his outq, crowded with joblogs. When I looked at my screen I noticed a flickering screen in intervals of exactly 120 seconds showing a black screen and message code 657 for 2 or 3 seconds and then it returned to a normal view (I had "automatic reconnect" checked in my session configuration which made this difference). A new job was started everytime this happened. To make a long story short: I solved the problem with the command CHGTELNA INACTTIMO(3600) which sets the inactivity timeout value to an hour (3600 seconds). The documentation says that this value is added to the INACTTIMO parameter (obviously 120 seconds), but I don't know where to specify this value wrt. the local AS/400. The INACTTIMO value was set to 0 seconds before I changed it. If this is the default value for this parameter then I can't imagine being the only one with this problem. Anyone here with V4R2, using CA over IP and flickering or black screens in fixed intervals?
