Scott, you're kinda there in many respects. I also have a BS and MBA from name univ's but just happened to take RPG at a CC's night class just to learn another language....I used to be VERY polylingual... Further, I fully support both regular univ's and CC's...they both fill gaps the other misses...no problems and no flames from me... But, do keep in kind that when you get your BS, you will tend to work on the technology that you know, further, employers will tend to hire on the technology that you have experience on. Not many employers want to hire green and teach from square zero....ergo, if you don't have the technology present in the univ and CC systems you're not going to learn it and since you don't learn or know it who's going to hire you for it? Conversely, if you don't know it(a technology set) why should I hire you when I have to do all the training that you SHOULD have gotten in college??? Yeah, I know what it's like work with BS'ers(degree) that didn't have a clue to blocking factors on tape...funnies damn thing I ever saw was watching a "senior programmer" try to write a few thousand records to 2-2400 foot tapes (back in 1600bpi days)....he was writing more gap than data! He freaked when I put it all on a 200' reel....:) Also, instructors have a major myopia about what they want to teach you...rarely does any school (security paranoia etc) want to teach the system from the inside out! ...and I won't tell you about some of the things I did at Clemson or in Chattanooga, but I DID learn the systems from the inside out....cost me a few bucks, but I knew how to use a box and program as well.... :) Don in DC metro... +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
