Buck,

>>Is it possible that program J98INITA is changing it back to *BREAK?

BINGO! Unfortunately that is exactly what happens. JDE places a
cutesey little break message handling program during startup. Now
because the users send messages back and forth quite a bit (we are
spread over 50 offices and europe) I cannot eliminate it. I also do not
know who, or when a user will attempt multiple sessions.

>> Some of the users are so...script driven (go exactly by "the Book")

I guess that is my real dilema. They were smart enough to figure out how
to manually launch the subsequent sessions, but not smart enough to
figure the new messages were similar to ones they had already seen.
This morning I received a call from one of the users for the third time
letting me know there is "still a problem with her JDE". So I explained
AGAIN. Sighhhh.....

>>the night before (just to keep it fresh in their minds.) No, it didn't
>>eliminate the calls, but it cut them down. They complain about the

>>when the folks on the line felt like we in MIS were thinking about them.

Because of our size we rely on the user management to pass info on and
sometimes it gets a little lost in the translation. I do agree with the concept
though. A neat little utility I had seen and now can't recall where, was a
customizable signonn screen application. It was in one of those 3x5 card
packs. Haven't seen it since. THAT would be a great way to do a Whats
New, or System Status type message. In fact I will get my lazy little
fingers to send a new post asking about something like it.

Thanks for the help and the reality check.
