Well, it's a bit of work, but you can go and change your printer files,
or add OVRPRTF commands to your CL, so that the width defined is only
what is needed.  This is another of those 'sloppy' programming practices
(just defining all printer files as width 132) that has come back to
haunt us - sort of like using 2 digits for the year !  :-)

Sure, it's a pain if you add a column to a report and all of a sudden
you need to change the width from 80 to 96, but still - if the job's
worth doing, it's worth doing right !

As to other options - usually a printer definition has the COR (Computer
Output Reduction) feature turned on.
If you turn it off you should just end up with truncated reports
(hopefully just truncating blank space and no critical data !) instead.
