     Yes, the trigger executes before any database validation rules are 
     checked.

Quick question,
     
Can you use a "before" trigger to generate the key value of a file?
     
In other words, say an sql statement does an "insert" into a uniquely 
keyed file, with the key field of zero.  The trigger program then gets 
the next available key field number and updates the "out" buffer with 
it.
