  • Subject: 'L' Data Type and Null Values

Mani,

Though one (or at least I) cannot predict the future with complete
accuracy, I would not count on seeing Blanks as a valid value for Date
fields in any near future. Null is valid as a value today, but the
actual data used to represent Null is still required to represent a
valid date (that is legitimate Year, Month, Day values) that should
only be used after testing for the Null extension/attribute.

Please note that this requirement is not unique to AS/400 and DB2/400.
