Why would anyone using FTP to do some simple file transfers between an
AS/400 and whatever else use Connect Direct unless they've already got it
installed? Connect direct is not going to solve the data translation
problems between different character sets automagically - that's a job for
translation tables - same as with FTP. Connect Direct is a proprietary
mechanism that requires Connect Direct on both ends and it's not cheap!
Connect Direct has its place but as a replacement for simple file transfers
with FTP? Not for me!
