Either Midrange Computing or NEWS/400's CD's had a program that turned QHST files into database files and allowed you to seaarch and position through them. I STARTED to look into using it/them and than got busy (imagine that) and spaced it... I'll see what I can find. Speaking of getting busy and spacing the "handy" things like this, I am Operations Supervisor/I.S. for our company. We have a 530 and just inherited a 500 from a sister division that we took over. I'm responsible for both. We have over 600+ users and devices at 9 locations in the U.S. and Canada. I handle security, telecommunications, backup and disaster recovery, software installation and upgrades, user support, system programming, trouble shooting, etc. and am the Help Desk Supervisor (if we ever get it up and running <G>) and still get a TON of questions from our development staff (which I don't mind at all ! I used to do Applications programming before switching to this) and I am "IT" (and I'm NOT saying that as "Mr. Bighead" but rather as "Mr. Getting REALLY burned out, can't get ANYTHING done"...) - am I alone in this ? Are others dealing with a workload like this alone ? Or are "you" a similiar sized shop that is staffed differently in this arena - "inquiring mind, wants to know :-) Thanks !!
