Scott made a good call here.  You need to create more colour capable 
virtual devices on the passthrough target machine.  When passthrough 
starts, it looks for a device that matches the source device's 
capabilities.  If it can't find one, it chooses a "generic" one 
instead.  You'll see a message about limited device function or some 
such...
