Sorry Folks, I think I stirred up a hornets nest and I would like to have the last word, after all I started it (and want it to stop). I know that there are arguments for and against the use of ITER & LEAVE. In Truth, if they are structured Op-Codes is irrelevant. From the replies received, it shows what I already knew, that any piece of code that is written well, readable, reusable and maintainable is what we must all strive for. My main aim in the discussion was to get opinions on the two opcodes, Thank you everybody who contributed. My programming training style and methods do not include loop structures which would not normally use LEAVE or ITER. I would prefer if my staff would not use these opcodes, However we do teach them how to use LEAVE & ITER and show them instances where they can make code neater. People have to make their own minds up. Just like DOW Vs DOU. At the end of the day if the code is maintainable, well commented and kept as close to a standard as possible then I will be happy. Everyone has the right to make their own standards and the purpose of a standard is to ensure everyone knows what to expect when modifying a piece of standard code. Some will include LEAVE and ITER in there standards others will exclude it. Standards must be reviewed frequently and if anyone decides to leave out LEAVE & ITER then they are more than welcome to use or not use them. What we have gained here is a further understanding of how LEAVE & ITER can be used. Make you own mind up, and let that be the end of it.
