OK, I'll bite...  Why would you want a system without a CD-ROM?  Nowadays,
most 3rd party software, IBM System Software, and IBM PTFs all come on
CD-ROM.


I like CD-ROMs:  They aren't subject to magnetic fields, take less space
than tape, make nifty clocks, etc. etc.
