Bruce Vining said "perror() is exported from *SRVPGM QC2IO. You should be specifying that *SRVPGM on your create. You can confirm this by DSPSRVPGM SRVPGM(QC2IO) DETAIL(*PROCEXP)." This is one of those _very_ rare occasions where I have to disagree with Bruce. Although in practice perror may continue to be exported from this service program there is no guarantee that it will. The safer way to ensure that you can always link to any C library function/data export is to specify Binding Directory QC2LE on the CRTPGM command. This has the added advantage for RPG and COBOL users that the Binding Directory can be specified on the CRTBNDxxx command so you can compile with a single command rather than the CRTxxxMOD, CRTPGM combination.
