Booth,

The answer to your question is YES. I am currently doing this.
We have a PC app that is being replaced by a VARPG app. The data
is being moved from the PC to the AS/400. First I export the
data to a Comma Separated File. Then I use a VARPG app to
'convert' the PC data to the database on the AS/400. Works slick!
I am also using a technique for converting the CSV file on the PC
that I found in News/400 or Midrange Computing. I forget which. It
deals with states to convert the file properly.
I can massage the data in any way I see fit before putting it into
the AS/400 database.

If anymore questions or need more detail let me know.

Jon, a question regarding VaRPG:
Can an average RPG programmer using VaRPG, easily write a program that
will read FileA and write the records out to FileB, where FileA is
either a regular AS/400 data file, with packed and signed numeric
fields, or where FileA is a regular PC Excel file, and where FileB
resides on the opposite system?
