Borland now do a C++/400 compiler too. And I'll think you'll find if you use
VisualAge Java you'll run into a few problems with the source ;-)

>From memory, the target PROGRAM that you set in the VisualAge front end project
settings will be limited to 10 chars long. The resultant *PGM/*SRVPGM objects
will be stored/executed in/from the normal, regular AS/400 library/file system.

BTW: The only place that you can (currently) run executable code from (not
including Java) in the IFS is /QSYS.LIB
