  • Subject: FTP - AS/400 to UNIX
  • From: JBakerii <JBakerii@xxxxxxx>

I need to FTP a file from my 400 to my SCO UNIX box. The file we created on
the 400 has all of the numeric fields defined as signed, and some of them can
contain negative numbers. When I look at the file on the UNIX box after it is
FTP'ed from the 400, the last byte/digit of all numeric fields that contain
negative numbers is messed up (see example below).

       AS/400       AS/400     UNIX
     definition      value    value
     7,2 signed      30.00-  000300}
     7,2 signed      10.53-  000105L
     7,2 signed     315.90-  003159}
     7,2 signed      10.68-  000106Q

Is there a way I can FTP the file and have the sign be a separate byte? I
know that we could write a RPG program to read the file and output to another
file with all numeric fields translated to alpha, but I don't want to if it
can be done another way. If anyone knows of a way to do this, please let me
know here on the list.

TIA...
